Things progressed smoothly over the next few weeks. Ava had settled into first grade, and Aiden loved his preschool class. The schedule Ellie and Harper had created was working, and Harper was grasping the basics of the business. They hadn't seen or heard from Lorena or her father since the day they'd run into Lorena at the restaurant. Parker was a bit concerned about what the two of them were planning next, but he told Harper he was trying not to dwell on it too much.

The nights in the Bentley bedroom were filled with passion and love. The evenings were their special time. After the kids were asleep, husband and wife retreated to their own private sanctuary where they discussed the children, work, household issues, and the day they'd just had. They made love every night with the same passion and fire they'd discovered on their wedding night, but neither of them ever spoke the "L" word.

One particular night, when they were feeling especially cozy, having lit the fireplace in their bedroom to ward off the autumn chill, he walked out of the bathroom and said, "You know, you have been extra good. You haven't done anything that would land you across my knees. The basic rules of safety and respect, you follow to a tee. Are you always this well-behaved?"

Harper looked at him in surprise. "I-I don't know. I guess I haven't really thought about it. I've always been one to follow the rules and not take unnecessary risks. But never fear, I do have a side of me that likes adventure."

"You know, my sweet little wife, there are other forms of spankings. Some are for pleasure only. Good girl spankings can be fun. Are you feeling adventurous enough to try it with me?"

She looked at him in awe, not sure quite how to reply to that. Finally, she said in a voice that was barely above a whisper, "I g-guess w-we could try it and find out."

"Do you still trust me, Harper?" he asked gently as he walked over to the bed and sat on the edge.

"You know I do," she replied without hesitation.

He gently took her arm and swung her over his lap before she even knew it had happened.

"Parker!" she exclaimed as his hand snaked up her leg and lifted her flimsy nightgown to expose her lace-covered bottom.

"I still don't know why you insist on wearing these things to bed. You know they just get in the way."

"What if one of the kids wakes up or wants to come in during the night? Do you really want me to be in the buff? Or think about the time it would take for me to grab a robe before I could get to them if they cried out?" she asked.

"You have a point, little mama, but I still prefer you to be naked. Call me selfish. I like your curves, and your skin is like silk against mine."

"You, sir, are crazy and a typical man," she teased.
